The experience

A space for your own ideas.

Build an original character from the inside out. Participants imagine a personality, an origin story, and a world, then explore how clothing can express those ideas. Male, female, and plus-size female figure templates provide starting points for their costume illustrations. Participants choose and use fabric swatches to explore color, texture, and materials for their cosplay costume design. This is a design lab: the finished project is a costume concept and story.

Each pair of participants shares a fully equipped mini design studio. I provide tools, materials, creative resources, and my professional guidance.

No design or sewing experience is needed—just curiosity and imagination.

A look at the experience

What to expect

Imagine a character and explore how costume choices express their personality and world. Participants choose and use fabric swatches to develop the look and feel of their cosplay costume. With creative resources and professional guidance, participants develop a costume illustration and an origin story that reflect their own ideas. Sharing is optional.

Learning through making

Creative choices. New confidence.

Participants practice translating character traits into visual choices, using figure templates, and explaining how a costume supports the story they want to tell.

Participants stay engaged through hands-on exploration and personal choices. Sharing is optional, and individual guidance helps them work through challenges.

The finished project can become a starting point for continued exploration in art, sewing, design, and storytelling.

Keep exploring at the library

I can work with library staff to highlight related books and resources, encourage participants to learn about library cards, and introduce other creative programs.
